Reading Families' Forum Krazy Play Days Coffee Evening

Tuesday 30 January

For parent carers of disabled and/or special needs children. A chance to meet others in the same situation and to have a say in shaping services.

Reading Families’s Forum will discuss Permanent and Fixed Term exclusions from school (also known as being expelled or suspended) and informal exclusions such as being sent home for a few days to cool off and part-time time tables.

Helen Redding, SEND Improvement Advisor and Gill Dunlop, Virtual Head for children missing out on education, will be present from 7pm to hear your views.

The forum will also be discussing Ambitious about Autism’s campaign When Will We Learn?

There will be qualified helpers on site to supervise your children, so you can be free to listen to the talk. (Please note that child care spaces are limited).

Butterflies support group for Down's Syndrome

Dingley's Promise, Kennet Walk Community Centre, Kenavon Drive, Reading RG1 3GD

Butterflies is a new support group for families with a child who has Down’s syndrome or expectant parents who have received a positive pre-natal diagnosis.

The group meets once a month to bring families together over a cup of tea to give each other support and guidance whether your child has not yet been born, is at school, college or working.

Carers' Steering Group

The steering group aims to develop services and support for carers in Reading.

Members include:

  • carers
  • carers' support groups
  • health and social care professionals

All carers welcome.
