Ever thought you’d like to do something for charity but been put off at the thought of having to do a bungee jump or ride through the desert on your bike?
Well, you may be pleased to know you don’t have to go to marathon efforts to raise money for local people with a learning disability. There are lots of small things you can.
Holding a coffee morning, taking part in a supermarket tin shake or selling raffle tickets are all ways to help that can make a big difference towards supporting services at Reading Mencap.
We have been lucky enough to have volunteers who have helped out at a tin get the proceeds match-funded by their employers. A relative of one of the people who uses our services encouraged her colleagues to take part in a dress-down day in her workplace.
It’s also very easy to raise funds for us when you shop or search online. If you shop via giveasyoulive.com you can raise free funds for Reading Mencap – they have more than 4,200 leading stores signed up to the scheme. Doing an online search through everyclick.com means a few pence is donated to use every time you seach.
You can also support Reading Mencap every time you shop or sell on Ebay. Making us your favourite will help us more than you know. Please follow this link to choose us.
You can donate to us in the Ebay checkout or you can sell your items to benefit us. Please visit our Get Involved pages for more information.
Of course, we are also thrilled when people do take part in marathons and cycling challenges to support us. You can read about the fantastic lengths our champion cyclists Lee and James went to on behalf of Reading Mencap in the autumn issue of our newsletter.
Inspired to help?
We will be at Tesco Extra Reading West on Saturday 7th October during the daytime. Could you spare 1-2 hours to collect donations? We will be there again with our Choir on Wednesday 14th December from 2pm to 4pm.
If anyone can help us sell raffle tickets for our Winter Draw (£1 each), which has £1,000 of John Lewis vouchers as the first prize, please contact us at email@example.com
Please visit our Get Involved pages for more information about the different ways you can help.
Many thanks from everyone at Reading Mencap!
