Fantastic. That’s the verdict of members of our ME Day Activity Service who are part of a new initiative aimed at showing everyone can be a rugby player!
They are taking part in a 12-week course run by London Irish – one of 14 Premiership Rugby clubs involved in Project Rugby, which is designed to illustrate rugby is an inclusive sport anyone can enjoy, regardless of age or ability.
London Irish coach Joe is teaching them how to play tag rugby at The Warehouse, Cumberland Road, where he has got everyone taking part in rugby drills and running up and down the hall as they try to pull tags off each other.
The sessions are a hit with ME members who are benefiting from using up lots of energy while having fun.
Project Rugby aims to reach thousands of people each year who wouldn’t typically take part in rugby – proving that while rugby is a competitive sport it’s also about friendship, community and fun, which of course, we all benefit from.
