Mates and Cakes: Crafts to sell

After a few sessions of craft and perfecting our pom pom and card making skills, the group wanted to create some saleable items to sell at our various fairs and fundraising events.

The group love showing off what they have made and also wanted to help raise a bit of money for us in the process. We packaged up the cards into cellophane bags and added a customised Reading Mencap stamp to the back for the professional touch and also added a Reading Mencap tag to the keyrings, meaning they were an ideal gift.

Pom pom keyrings and cards were amongst other handmade wears produced in our other groups and clubs were on sale at our Harris Garden Open day in May. Some of the group came along to support the craft stall on the day and gained great satisfaction from seeing their handmade items out in the community, being purchased. The stall managed to raise just over £100! Not bad for our first craft stall.

The cards are now on sale in our office for staff, volunteers and visitors to buy.

We will be showcasing more handmade items at the Reading Mencap Summer Fair on Saturday 19th August, we hope to see you there!
