It’s out with the old and in with the new!

Where will you find your last pound? The old ‘round’ pound coins cease to be legal tender on Sunday October 15 so don’t forget to spend them before then.

You can, of course, donate them to Reading Mencap. We’d love to give them a new home!

So, please have a rummage down the back of the sofa and check your piggy banks. It’s estimated there’s a whooping £1.3bm hidden away in homes across the UK – and more than a third of these are likely to be made up of round pounds.

Don’t forget to also check your bags and pockets!

You can also spend your old pounds on raffle tickets for our Winter Draw. First prize is £1,000 of John Lewis vouchers.

Please bring your old pound coins to Reading Mencap, 21 Alexandra Road, Reading RG1 5PE.

To buy raffle tickets, please pop into the office or call 0118 966 2518 or email communityfundraiser@readingmencap.org.uk

The new 12-sided coin entered circulation at the end of March. It’s lighter than the old coin and it is harder for counterfeiters to fake.
